New regulation from Germany for Syrians: Protection status to be reviewed

In a statement to the Funke Media Group, Faeser said, "Under our laws, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) will review and revoke protection if people no longer need it in Germany due to the stabilization of the situation in Syria."

Nancy Faeser noted that this will also apply to those who do not have a right of residence for other reasons, such as work or education, and who do not return to Syria voluntarily. Stating that they are primarily focusing on security issues, Faeser added, "Anyone who is well-integrated, working, has learned German, and has built a new home here should be allowed to stay in Germany."

THOSE WHO WISH TO RETURN WILL BE SUPPORTED

Faeser also emphasized the importance of supporting those who wish to return from Germany.

Pointing out that individuals who have committed serious crimes must also be deported as soon as possible, Faeser said, "The legal options for this have been significantly expanded and will be utilized as soon as the situation in Syria permits."

According to the Ministry of the Interior, nearly one million Syrians currently live in Germany. BAMF had previously decided to suspend asylum applications from people arriving from Syria following the fall of the 61-year Assad regime in Syria.
