New statement from Trump on Iran talks: The issue is resolved
United States President Donald Trump stated that although there were some hitches in the negotiations with Iran, they have been resolved and a memorandum of understanding regarding the Strait of Hormuz could be finalized very soon. Trump emphasized that a potential peace agreement is more valuable than military success.
US President Donald Trump made remarkable statements regarding the ongoing negotiations with Iran in an interview with ABC News. Stating that there was a "minor glitch" in the negotiation process with Iran, but that this issue has been resolved, Trump expressed that the hitches were largely due to "Iran's dissatisfaction with Israel's military activities in Lebanon."
Trump reported that following his discussions, Israel and Hezbollah have mutually agreed not to attack each other. He also said that they are on the verge of reaching a memorandum of understanding regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and that he expects this to be finalized next week.
The US President added that "they have not yet reached a definitive agreement with Iran regarding the inclusion of certain clauses."
In a post shared by Trump on social media, it was stated that a meeting was held with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and that he called on Netanyahu not to launch a large-scale attack on Beirut. Trump claimed that Israel withdrew its military units following this meeting.
Furthermore, noting that he has established indirect contacts with Hezbollah, Trump stated that Israel and Hezbollah have for now agreed on the principle of non-aggression. He also shared the assessment, "Let's see how long this lasts. I hope it lasts forever," in his social media message.
