New US support package for Ukraine: We will continue to help Kyiv win the war

US President Joe Biden issued a written statement regarding the new aid package for Ukraine and stated that he was proud to host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House today.

In his statement, Biden noted that they have stood by Kyiv since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war, saying, "Today, I am announcing a significant increase in security assistance for Ukraine and a series of additional steps to help Ukraine win this war."

According to Biden's statement, the remaining $5.5 billion from the budget previously approved by Congress for Ukraine will be sent to Ukraine immediately before the 2024 fiscal year ends in the US on Monday.

In addition, the US administration will procure $2.4 billion worth of weapons to be sent to Ukraine and will deliver these weapons to Kyiv.

The military aid package, which has a total value of $7.9 billion, has been recorded as one of the largest support packages in the final period of Biden's presidency.

GUIDED BOMBS WITH A RANGE OF 130 KM

It is noteworthy that the military aid package includes JSOW guided bombs with a range of 130 kilometers, and it is stated that these bombs will provide the Ukrainian army with the "capability to strike Russian elements at long range."

Conversely, Biden did not make any assessment in his statement regarding the use of these weapons on Russian territory. US officials stated that Biden still does not permit the use of these weapons on Russian soil.

The aid package to be sent by the Pentagon will also include Patriot missiles and Patriot air defense batteries.

The US President also announced that he has instructed the Pentagon to increase pilot training for the F-16 fighter jets that Ukraine will use.
