North Korea continues to send trash to South Korea.

In a statement from the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), it was reported that Pyongyang has sent another 600 balloons carrying trash to South Korea's border regions.

WARNING TO CITIZENS

The statement indicated that most of the balloons, which were sent as of 8:00 PM local time yesterday and carried trash such as plastic bags, scraps of paper, and cigarette butts, fell in the country's Gyeonggi province. Citizens living in border regions were urged not to touch suspicious bags and to report them to security forces.

On the other hand, an investigation has been launched into the waste, which is suspected of potentially containing toxic chemicals.

THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME

Pyongyang, which announced that it would retaliate against propaganda leaflets sent to North Korea by South Korean activists via balloons, had sent 260 balloons carrying trash such as propaganda leaflets, plastic bottles, batteries, shoe parts, and manure to South Korea's border regions starting Tuesday night.

South Korean Defense Minister Shin Won-sik condemned North Korea's move, stating, "This is an embarrassing, base, and inhumane act that is unimaginable for a normal country."

The South Korean Ministry of Unification had warned that strict measures would be taken if North Korea continues its "irrational" and "provocative" actions.
