Number of people sickened by hamburgers in the US is rising!

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a statement regarding the detection of E. coli bacteria in McDonald's "Quarter Pounder" hamburgers across 14 states in the country.

The statement indicated that the number of people who have fallen ill due to the E. coli bacteria has risen to 104, with 34 of these individuals having been hospitalized.

In a statement on October 23, the CDC had announced that one of the 49 people who had fallen ill due to the bacteria had lost their life.

While the investigation is focusing on the possibility that the E. coli bacteria may be present in the beef patties and onions used in the hamburgers, it was stated that McDonald's has halted the sale of these hamburgers and the use of the suspected ingredients in certain states.

According to the CDC, E. coli bacteria cause approximately 70 thousand infections in the US each year, and more than 2 thousand people are treated for these infections annually.
