NYT shares details of the proposals accepted by Hamas

The US-based newspaper The New York Times received information from two officials who wished to remain anonymous regarding the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel. 

The report, which states that there are minor differences between the proposals approved by Hamas and the offer from Israel and the US, emphasizes that the changes were made by mediators in consultation with Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director William Burns.

The two officials noted that the response from Hamas was serious and that the decision on whether or not to reach an agreement now rests with Israel.

Stating that both sides will work to ensure "sustainable calm", which includes the release of more hostages, the officials pointed out that the parties "will likely clash over the definition of sustainable calm."

The two officials stated that mediators from Qatar and Egypt spoke with them about the changes Hamas is prepared to accept. Hamas claimed the changes were proposed by the mediators, while the official who spoke to the NYT claimed they were proposed by Hamas.

Hamas announced in a statement yesterday that it had accepted the proposal. The Israeli army, meanwhile, continued its attacks at the Rafah Border Crossing.
