The UK's oil and gas regulator, the North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA), has announced that 24 new oil and natural gas licenses have been granted in the North Sea.

According to an AA report, the NSTA stated that 24 new oil and gas licenses were issued to 17 different companies, including Shell, Equinor, BP, Total, and NEO.

These licenses constitute the second phase of the NSTA's 33rd oil and gas licensing round, bringing the total number of licenses provided under the 33rd round to 51 so far. The NSTA also announced that more licenses will be granted in the coming months.

On October 7, 2022, the NSTA opened applications for oil and gas exploration in 931 blocks as part of the 33rd oil and gas licensing round. The authority had received 115 applications from 76 different companies for these licenses.
