Palestine's Permanent Representative to the UN Mansour: Do we have the wrong faith, the wrong skin color, or the wrong nationality?
Riyad Mansour, Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nations (UN), criticized countries that remain silent on Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip, stating, "Why do some feel so much pain for Israelis, yet so little for us Palestinians? What is the problem? Do we have the wrong faith, the wrong skin color, or the wrong nationality? Why do you not accept that it is urgent to end the killings? Nothing can justify war crimes."
Palestine's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Riyad Mansour spoke at an emergency meeting held for Gaza at the UN General Assembly in New York, USA. Stating that millions of Palestinians have no home to return to due to Israeli attacks, Mansour said, "Thousands of people no longer have a family to embrace due to the decision of the government represented in this hall."
Expressing his belief that Israel thinks the rest of the world will not speak out against the murdered families if it blames Hamas enough, Mansour said, "Why do some feel so much pain for Israelis, yet so little for us Palestinians? What is the problem? Do we have the wrong faith, the wrong skin color, or the wrong nationality? Why do you not accept that it is urgent to end the killings? Nothing can justify war crimes."
''REMEMBER WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT''
Reminding that this meeting is taking place while Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are under bombardment, Mansour said, "Remember that you are speaking while families are being massacred, while hospitals are unable to function, while neighborhoods are being destroyed, and while people are fleeing from one place to another without finding a safe place."
Requesting those who will speak at the General Assembly to choose their words carefully in light of these facts and to act accordingly, Mansour said, "To everyone acting against a larger man-made catastrophe or regional spillover, which are worthy goals, we say stop the bombs or both will happen. Stop the bombs and save lives."
"THESE PEOPLE SURVIVED DECADES OF MILITARY OCCUPATION"
Calling for an immediate halt to Israeli attacks, Mansour said, "These people, whom you watch being massacred on your screens every night, have survived decades of military occupation. 16 years of blockade and 5 wars in the Gaza Strip. Despite immense suffering, they have rebuilt, rebuilt, and rebuilt their lives and homes again and again, despite everything."
"CHOOSE JUSTICE, NOT REVENGE"
Calling on every country in the General Assembly to vote to stop the killings in the Gaza Strip, Mansour said, "Vote for humanitarian aid to reach those whose survival depends on it. Vote to stop this madness. You have a chance to do something, to send an important signal. Choose justice, not revenge; choose to uphold the law, not to justify violations. Choose peace, not more war. Choose to end the worst double standard we have seen in decades."
