‘Parachute’ tragedy in Gaza
Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Civil Defense Unit in Gaza, stated in a written statement that the parachutes carrying humanitarian aid boxes dropped by aircraft over the northern Gaza Strip failed to open.
Basal noted that as a result of the boxes falling onto a group of Palestinians waiting for aid in the area, many people were killed and injured.
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN OF AIRCRAFT NOT DISCLOSED
Spokesperson Basal did not provide any information regarding the number of dead and injured, nor which country the aircraft that dropped the aid belonged to.
In a similar incident that occurred in the Gaza Strip on March 8, 5 Palestinians lost their lives and many others were injured when the parachutes carrying humanitarian aid boxes dropped by aircraft failed to open and fell onto people waiting for aid in the region.
