Pentagon's AI army move

A new step taken by the US Department of Defense has been recorded as the beginning of a significant transformation in military technology. It was reported that under the agreements, AI systems developed for civilian use will be integrated into the military's most critical infrastructure.

AI IS BEING MOVED TO THE HIGHEST SECURITY LAYERS

According to developments based in Washington, the new systems will be used in networks with the highest security levels, known as Impact Level 6 and 7. These infrastructures are defined as closed systems where the most sensitive military information, including nuclear data, is processed.

It was stated that the most notable company not involved in the project is Anthropic. It was reported that the developer of the Claude model did not accept requests for unrestricted access to AI for use in autonomous weapons systems and domestic surveillance activities. Attention was also drawn to the ongoing legal processes between the company and the ministry.

It was stated that the AI integration is not limited to military hardware but also stands out with its data processing capacity. It was claimed that health records, communication data, satellite imagery, and financial movements are centralized through Palantir Technologies software, creating a comprehensive surveillance network.

Various examples regarding the effects of these systems in the field have come to the fore. Allegations were raised that the strike on an elementary school in Iran was linked to AI misinterpreting old satellite data. Furthermore, despite the Pentagon's statement that "the final decision rests with humans," the extent to which the suggestions offered by systems that analyze data at high speeds can be audited has sparked debate.

It was also claimed that AI-based systems are being used domestically. It was alleged that the application called "ImmigrationOS," which Palantir reportedly developed with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, is used in immigrant tracking and deportation processes. Assessments were shared regarding the role of these systems in certain operations in Minnesota.

It was stated that methods tested in Afghanistan in the early 2000s detected "anomalies" by analyzing individuals' daily movements. It was reported that the same approach has been applied in regions such as Iraq, Gaza, and Venezuela and used for security reasons.
