Polish farmers to blockade all border crossings
Polish farmers will blockade all of the country's border crossings with Ukraine on February 20, arguing that agricultural and food products imported from Ukraine are destroying Polish agriculture.
Polish farmers have decided to protest, claiming that agricultural and food products imported from Ukraine are destroying Polish agriculture. In a statement issued by the NSZZ RI "Solidarnosci" union, to which the Polish farmers belong, it was announced that the month-long protests that began on February 9 would be further intensified.
The statement noted that low-quality agricultural and food products imported from Ukraine are being sold at prices far below the cost of production, thereby ruining Polish agriculture. It also stated that farming has become unprofitable due to the European Green Deal, which aims to reduce carbon emissions by 50 percent.
SUBSIDY SUPPORT REQUESTED
For this reason, NSZZ RI "Solidarnosci" announced that Polish farmers will blockade all of Poland's border crossings with Ukraine on February 20.
Meanwhile, the Board of the National Council of Agricultural Chambers has requested that Prime Minister Donald Tusk provide subsidy support to farmers for grain, milk, pork, fertilizer, and fuel due to the ongoing instability in the market.
