Pope's message on negotiations and Turkey

The Pope made assessments regarding current issues in an exclusive interview with Swiss Radio and Television (RSI).

When reminded of the debates regarding whether Ukraine should raise a white flag in the war, the Pope said, "I believe that the one who sees the situation, who thinks of the people, and who has the courage to raise the white flag and negotiate is the stronger one.

Today, it is possible to negotiate with the help of international powers. Negotiation is a courageous term. When you are defeated, when you see that things are not going well, you must have the courage to negotiate. You may be hesitant, but how many deaths will this war end with?" he stated.

"TURKEY HAS MADE AN OFFER"

Calling for timely negotiations, Pope Francis remarked, "One must look for a country that will mediate. Today, for example, there are many countries that want to mediate in the war in Ukraine. Turkey has made an offer to initiate the process. Do not be afraid to negotiate before things get worse."

Stating that he speaks every day with the Catholic community in Gaza, which is under Israeli attack, the Pope noted that those there convey to him what they are experiencing and that this is a war.
