Presidential race in the US: Trump wins Iowa caucuses

In the state of Iowa, where the US presidential election race traditionally begins, the vote-counting process in the caucuses that pitted Republican candidates against each other is nearing its end, with 82 percent of the ballots reported as counted.

TRUMP TAKES THE LEAD IN IOWA

According to unofficial results announced by the AP news agency, Donald Trump has taken the lead in Iowa, leaving behind his rivals, former US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. It is reported that Haley and DeSantis are awaiting final results to see who will secure second place.

RECEIVED MORE THAN 51 PERCENT

According to unofficial results, Trump has received more than 51 percent of the votes in this state and has been declared the winner of the race. DeSantis is following the vote-counting process at 21 percent, while Haley is at 19 percent.

Meanwhile, another Republican candidate, Vivek Ramaswamy, appears to have found support at the 7 percent level.

The next primaries in the US will be held in the state of New Hampshire on January 23, and the primary process will continue until June 8.

Both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party will determine their official candidates for the presidential election at their party conventions in July and August.

The candidate who wins the presidential election to be held on November 5 will take office on January 20, 2025.
