Provision of medication to Israeli hostages to begin on Wednesday
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that the distribution of medication to Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip will begin on Wednesday.
Netanyahu's office issued a written statement on the matter via its X account.
The statement read, "The transfer process for the medication will take place following an agreement reached by Mossad Chief David Barnea with Qatar regarding the provision of medication to Israeli hostages."
MEDICAL SUPPLY PROVISION TO BEGIN WEDNESDAY
The statement noted, "On Wednesday, two Qatari Air Force planes will take off for Egypt to transport medication purchased from France, in accordance with a list prepared in Israel based on the medical needs of the abductees." It was stated that once the planes reach Egypt, Qatari representatives will transport the medication to the Gaza Strip and then to the final destination.
Qatar announced yesterday that an agreement had been reached between Israel and Hamas, which includes the entry of medication and humanitarian aid for civilians in the region in exchange for the delivery of medication to hostages in Gaza.
AGREEMENT BETWEEN HAMAS AND ISRAEL REPORTED
According to a written statement from the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry Spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari stated that an agreement had been reached between Hamas and Israel to facilitate the entry of medication and humanitarian aid shipments to civilians in the Gaza Strip, particularly in the most affected and damaged areas, in exchange for the delivery of medication needed by Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip.
According to the Israeli military, there are still 136 Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip.
During the "humanitarian pause" in the Gaza conflict, which began on November 24, 2023, for 4 days and was later extended for 3 days through the mediation of Qatar and Egypt, 81 Israeli and 240 Palestinian prisoners were released in exchange.
