Putin reveals who he supports in US election
The White House has responded swiftly to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who announced he would support Kamala Harris in the US presidential election.
White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby addressed Russian President Vladimir Putin, who stated he would "support Kamala Harris" in the US presidential election, saying, "Mr. Putin should stop talking about our elections, period."
White House National Security Communications Advisor Kirby reacted to Putin's comments regarding the US presidential election during a press briefing held via teleconference.
When asked about Putin's statement that he would support Harris, Kirby said, "Mr. Putin should stop talking about our elections, period. He shouldn't be favoring anybody one way or another."
"THE CHOICE BELONGS TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE"
Emphasizing that only the American people will decide who the next US president will be, Kirby stated that Putin should stop commenting on the US presidential election and attempting to interfere in it.
Participating in the Eastern Economic Forum held in the Russian city of Vladivostok, Putin had smiled when asked a question and said, "As I said, our favorite was President Biden. Now he has withdrawn from the race, but he asked his supporters to support Ms. Harris, so we will do that, we will support her."
Putin continued his speech by saying, "Of course, the choice belongs to the American people, and we will respect that decision. It is not for us to decide favorites; this is the choice of the American people."
Noting that former US President Donald Trump had imposed more sanctions on Russia than anyone else, Putin remarked that Harris laughs loudly and "infectiously," adding, "That means she is satisfied with everything."
