Putin's 'Palestinian State' statement

Speaking at a press conference at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip. Stating that Russia's position on the Palestinian issue remains the same, Putin said, "Russia's position is consistent and not dependent on the current climate. We have recognized the Palestinian state for a long time, since the Soviet era. In this sense, our position has not changed" he said.

"STEMS FROM US ACTIONS"

Reiterating that the conflict in the region stems from the US, Putin stated, "The situation in Israel and Palestine is a result of the actions of the US, which has monopolized politics in this region."

Criticizing Israel's ongoing attacks on Gaza in harsh terms, Putin said, "What is happening in Gaza and Rafah right now does not look like a war. It looks like the total destruction of the civilian population."

Reiterating that the only way to achieve peace is through the establishment of a Palestinian state, Putin added, "There will be no peace in the region without the establishment of a Palestinian state."
