Reaction from Latin America to the US regarding Iran

The attack carried out by the US on Iran's nuclear facilities has been met with backlash in Latin American countries. While Cuba, Chile, and Venezuela openly condemned the attacks, Colombia and Mexico called on the parties to exercise restraint and seek a diplomatic solution.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel stated in a post on the X social media platform that he strongly condemns the US attacks. Diaz-Canel said, "We strongly condemn the US bombing of Iran's nuclear facilities, which constitutes a dangerous escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. This aggression seriously violates the UN Charter and international law, and is dragging humanity into a crisis with irreversible consequences."

CHILE: "WE WANT PEACE AND WE NEED IT"

Chilean President Gabriel Boric also condemned the attack in a message posted on the X platform. Stating, "We want peace and we need it," Boric drew attention to the need to de-escalate the tension in the region.

CONDEMNATION MESSAGE FROM VENEZUELA

In an official statement released by the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated that "the military attack against Iran is condemned," emphasizing that the attack threatens international peace and security.

EMPHASIS ON DIPLOMACY FROM COLOMBIA AND MEXICO

The Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a more cautious statement, called on all parties to return to negotiations. The statement included the phrase, "The only responsible and lasting way out of the current crisis is through diplomatic negotiations."

The Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a post on X, called for peace with the words, "Restoring peaceful coexistence among states in the region remains the highest priority."
