Red Cross: Hospital surroundings are full of people

In a written statement issued by the ICRC, it was noted that their teams and communication unit staff have received numerous phone calls from people seeking their families and requesting assistance.

The statement, which noted that there are 100 thousand people in Gaza deprived of essential needs such as cleaning supplies, water, food, and shelter, stated, "The situation in Gaza is rapidly approaching the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe."

Regarding the southern region where people are being told to go, the statement provided the following information: "The southern region of Gaza lacks the infrastructure to meet the needs of the large number of people arriving with nothing but the clothes on their backs, and the amount of humanitarian aid received is completely insufficient."

"HUMANITARIAN AID ACCESS IS A NECESSITY"

In its statement, the ICRC called for the protection of civilians under siege in the Gaza Strip, whether they choose to stay or attempt to leave, and emphasized the necessity of regular humanitarian aid access without any obstacles.

Reminding that the surroundings of hospitals are full of people, the statement drew attention to the fact that these areas, which are being targeted by attacks, contain the groups most exposed to life-threatening danger, including the sick, the wounded, children, infants, and medical teams.

William Schomburg, Head of the ICRC's Gaza Sub-Delegation, emphasized in his statement: "People are telling us that they are afraid to open their doors, living in constant fear of facing death day and night. They are begging us to help them and take them to a safe place."
