Response to claims that Turkey will meet with YPG leader Mazlum Abdi
Claims by the US-based Al-Monitor that Turkish officials would meet with YPG's Mazlum Kobani had been on the agenda. Diplomatic sources responded to the allegations in question.
Diplomatic sources stated that the report by Al-Monitor claiming that Turkish officials could hold a meeting with YPG terrorist Mazlum Abdi does not reflect the truth.
It was stated that the report published on the US-based news site, which suggested the possibility of Turkey holding talks with the YPG, is not accurate.
According to Sözcü, diplomatic sources stated, "The report published in Al-Monitor containing allegations regarding Turkey is baseless."
MAZLUM ABDİ: 'WE ARE OPEN TO MEETING WITH ERDOĞAN'
YPG terrorist organization leader Mazlum Abdi said in an interview with a TV channel that they have established "direct" contact with Turkish officials and that he is open to meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Stating that they have reached a ceasefire with Turkey, Mazlum Abdi said the following:
“We have had a ceasefire with Turkey for two and a half months. There is a temporary and conditional calm. We hope this will turn into a permanent ceasefire. We have direct relations and direct channels with Turkey, and there are also mediators. We hope these relations will develop.”
Regarding the terrorist organization PKK's decision to lay down arms, YPG leader Mazlum Abdi used the expressions, ''We welcomed this decision. This is their own special decision, that is, PKK's own decision. The PKK's decision to withdraw had effects on this region, and in my opinion, our current ceasefire with Turkey is a product of this resolution process.”
