Ruling party in Poland secures victory in EP elections
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that his party, the Civic Coalition, has emerged victorious in the European Parliament (EP) elections.
Poland's PAP news agency reported that following the announcement of unofficial results in the EP elections, Tusk delivered a victory speech, stating that the Civic Coalition, which he leads, finished the election in the lead with 38 percent of the vote.
Evaluating the EP elections, Tusk stated that they had been waiting for this result for 10 years, saying, "I am happy. We have the right to be emotional and happy."
Meanwhile, according to unofficial results shared by Ipsos with media outlets in Poland, the Law and Justice (PiS) party of former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki received 33 percent of the vote, while the far-right Confederation Party placed third with 11 percent.
The Third Way appears to have finished the EP elections in Poland in fourth place with 8 percent of the vote, and the Left Party in fifth place with 6 percent.
In line with these results, the Civic Coalition is sending 21 representatives to the EP, PiS 19, the Confederation Party 6, the Third Way 4, and the Left Party 3.
