Russia issues statement on Poland: 'Poland was not targeted'

The Russian Ministry of Defense has issued a statement regarding allegations that its drones violated Polish airspace during attacks on Ukraine. The statement emphasized that the Russian military did not plan to strike targets on Polish territory.

“STRIKING POLAND WAS NOT PLANNED”

The ministry noted that the maximum range of the unmanned aerial vehicles does not exceed 700 kilometers. It was also stated that they are “ready to hold consultations on the matter” with the Polish Ministry of Defense.

ATTACKS IN UKRAINE ACKNOWLEDGED

Moscow acknowledged that attacks were carried out on military-industrial facilities in the Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytsky, and Zhytomyr regions, as well as in the cities of Vinnytsia and Lviv in Ukraine. However, it rejected claims that Poland was intentionally targeted.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Throughout the night, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine with approximately 400 drones. During the attack, Poland announced that its airspace had been violated and that some drones had been shot down.

Following the developments, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk invoked Article 4 of NATO, calling member countries to an emergency meeting. European Union and NATO officials argued that the violation was “planned.”
