Russia strikes southern Ukraine: 7 dead

Russia continues its intense attacks in Ukraine. In a missile attack carried out by Russian forces today on the city of Vilniansk in the Zaporizhzhia region of southern Ukraine, 7 people, including 2 children, lost their lives, while 23 people, including 8 children, were injured.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in a statement following the attack, addressed his allies and reiterated his call to provide Ukraine with longer-range weapons and advanced air defense systems.

Zelenskyy said, "Our cities and communities suffer from such Russian attacks every day. But there are ways to overcome this. Destroying terrorists where they are. Destroying Russian missile launchers, striking with real long-range capabilities, and increasing the number of modern air defense systems in Ukraine."

2 MISSILES USED IN THE ATTACK

Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko announced the attack with the words, "Today, the enemy committed another horrific act of terror against the civilian population."

Zaporizhzhia Regional Governor Ivan Fedorov also stated, "Today, the enemy committed another horrific act of terror against the civilian population. The attack took place in the middle of the day, in the city center where people were relaxing outside on the weekend and where there are no military targets."

Ukrainian Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin reported that the attack was carried out with 2 missiles, adding that infrastructure, a shop, and residential buildings were damaged.
