Russia takes a jab at the US over Ukraine following Trump assassination attempt

The repercussions of the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump continue. While leaders from all over the world have issued statements condemning the attack, Russia has taken a jab at the US, the biggest supporter of Ukraine, with which it is at war. In a statement, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that after the armed attack, the US should review its policies of "inciting hatred." Referring to the aid the US provides to Ukraine, Zakharova claimed that these funds were used to fuel attacks. Zakharova stated, "Perhaps it would have been better to use this money to finance the American police and other services that should ensure law and order in the US."

FRANCE SHARES THE ANGER OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE

French President Emmanuel Macron said in a statement, "My thoughts are with President Donald Trump, the victim of an assassination attempt. I wish him a speedy recovery. A spectator has died, and there are several injured. This is a tragedy for our democracies. France shares the shock and anger of the American people."

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated in her message that she sent her best wishes to Trump for a quick recovery. Meloni added that she hopes dialogue and responsibility will prevail over hatred and violence in the next few months of the US election process.

ZELENSKYY: THE US WILL OVERCOME THIS CHALLENGE

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also emphasized that the attack on Trump was a horrific crime that must be condemned, stating, "It demonstrates the serious global challenges that democracy is facing. Violence in any form, anywhere, should never prevail. I am confident that the US will overcome this challenge. I wish Mr. Trump a speedy recovery and strength to everyone affected by the attack. May all ill intentions fail. And may everyone who can restore security truly do so."

Stating that she was in deep shock after the attack, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said, "I wish Donald Trump a speedy recovery and offer my condolences to the family of the innocent victim. There is no place for political violence in democracies."

The 43rd President of the US, George W. Bush, said in his statement, "We are grateful that President Trump is safe following the cowardly attack on his life. We also commend the Secret Service agents for their rapid response."

An assassination attempt was made on Republican US Presidential Candidate Donald Trump at a campaign rally he held in the city of Butler, Pennsylvania. Following the incident, in which the attacker and 1 person attending the rally died and 2 people were injured, Trump stated that he was "hit by a bullet that pierced the upper part of his right ear," and said, "I knew immediately that something was wrong when I heard a buzzing sound, gunshots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin."

US President Joe Biden also stated that political violence is unacceptable, saying, "Everyone must condemn this. There is no place in America for this kind of violence. This is one of the reasons why we have to unite this country. We cannot allow this to happen. We cannot be like this. We cannot condone this."
