Russian ambassador to Polish Foreign Ministry: Send the protest note by mail or courier
Rejecting Poland's call to appear at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Russia's Ambassador to Warsaw, Sergey Andreyev, said, "If they want, they can send the diplomatic note by mail or courier."
Russia's Ambassador to Warsaw, Sergey Andreyev, who refused to go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response to Poland's summons, made a statement regarding the matter.
Stating that he refused to visit the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and that there is no point in addressing this issue without evidence being presented, Andreyev said, "We are still waiting for evidence from the Polish side regarding the claim that a Russian missile violated Polish airspace. So far, we have received nothing that would confirm this."
Andreyev added, "I suggested to my Polish friends that if they wish, they can send the diplomatic note by mail or courier."
WHAT HAPPENED
The Polish Operational Command announced that during Russia's air strikes on Ukraine early yesterday morning, a Russian cruise missile violated Polish airspace at 04:23 local time. While the Polish Air Force and NATO forces were put on alert, the missile, which was flying over the village of Oserdow, located 2 kilometers inside the Polish border, left Poland after 39 seconds.
Polish military officials responded to the question of why the missile, which was determined to be traveling at a speed of 800 kilometers per hour at an altitude of 400 meters, was not fired upon by stating that, as a result of their investigations, they determined the missile's target was not Poland and that it would leave Polish airspace shortly. Military officials stated that if the 2-ton missile, which contained 400 kilograms of explosives, had been shot down while in Polish airspace, it could have fallen into a residential area, which would have endangered the lives of Polish citizens.
Following the incident, Polish Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pawel Wronski issued a statement condemning Russia for the attack on Ukraine and announced that they would demand an explanation from Russia due to the repeated violation of Polish airspace.
