Satisfaction in Syria over Trump's decisions
Syrian Foreign Minister Assad Hassan al-Shaibani stated that they welcome US President Donald Trump's announcement regarding the lifting of sanctions on his country, describing the development as a "historic turning point for the Syrian people."
Speaking to the official Syrian News Agency (SANA), Minister al-Shaibani said they welcome US President Trump's statements regarding the lifting of sanctions imposed on Syria in response to the massacres committed by the Assad regime.
Stating that this situation is a promising development and a historic turning point for the Syrian people, who are preparing to enter a process of stability, self-sufficiency, and genuine reconstruction following years of devastating war, al-Shaibani said, "The Syrian people, who have paid heavy humanitarian and economic prices for years, will move one step closer to the future they deserve with such steps."
Al-Shaibani noted that Trump's statements would also positively change the international community's approach toward the region.
US President Trump, who is on an official visit to Saudi Arabia, had announced that they would lift sanctions on Syria, recalling his meetings with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
