Second day of negotiations between Israel and Hamas concludes

Indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel regarding the Gaza Plan, which envisions achieving lasting peace in the Gaza Strip, continued for a second day.

An unnamed Hamas official, in a statement to the Qatari press, indicated that the second day of talks had concluded shortly before, noting that the focus of the second day was on the line from which Israeli forces would withdraw and the timeline for the release of Israeli captives.

Stating that the Hamas delegation demanded that the stages of releasing Israeli captives be linked to the stages of the Israeli army's withdrawal, the official reported that the delegation emphasized that the release of the final Israeli hostage must coincide with the final withdrawal of occupation forces. The Hamas official stated that the delegation also emphasized the need to obtain international guarantees for a final ceasefire, including the withdrawal of all Israeli soldiers from Gaza territory.

Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani will participate in the ongoing negotiations in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh. Qatari Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari said that Al-Thani would meet with other mediators to make progress on a peace agreement.
