Second meeting in Islamabad: Date for US–Iran talks announced

Delegations from Iran and the United States are preparing to meet again in Pakistan on Monday, April 20. According to an Iranian official with knowledge of the matter, the parties will meet in the capital, Islamabad, to hold direct talks. However, no details regarding the exact time of the meeting were shared.

The military tension between the US and Iran in recent weeks escalated with the attacks by the US and Israel on Iran at the end of February, a process that led to widespread conflicts in the region. While the parties reached a ceasefire as of April 8, diplomatic contacts have gained momentum again within the framework of the search for peace.

Islamabad had also gained the status of an important negotiation platform on April 11. US Vice President JD Vance had previously reported that the meetings held earlier concluded "without reaching an agreement." During this process, Iranian authorities pointed to US demands as the reason for the failure to establish a common roadmap in the negotiations.
