Shocking claims from eyewitnesses at Trump rally
Multiple eyewitnesses have alleged that they informed police officers at former President Donald Trump's campaign rally in Pennsylvania minutes before the suspect on the roof opened fire.
Eyewitnesses at Donald Trump's rally have claimed that they warned police about the attacker in advance.
According to a BBC report, an attendee named Greg Smith alleged that the attacker was seen by audience members minutes before carrying out the attack.
"HE WAS ON THE ROOF FOR 3-4 MINUTES"
Noting that he saw the attacker crawl onto the roof, Smith stated that it was clearly visible that the attacker was carrying a weapon and that he remained on the roof for "3-4 minutes" before being neutralized.
ALLEGATION THAT "POLICE DID NOT INTERVENE"
Reporting that police forces were milling about, Smith stated that they informed the police about the attacker by saying, "We said, 'there's a guy on that roof with a rifle,'" but that the police did not take any action.
Noting that he could see US Secret Service agents looking at him from a barn at the rally site, Smith said, "The Secret Service was looking at us from the top of the barn. I was pointing at the roof. I was just standing there with my hand pointing at the roof. Then, all of a sudden, I heard 5 shots."
Explaining that he determined the Secret Service was looking at him with binoculars, Smith said, "Because of the slope of the roof, they probably couldn't see the attacker, but this isn't a big area, why isn't there a Secret Service agent on every roof? This is a security failure, a one hundred percent security failure."
Another eyewitness who spoke to CBS News shared the information, "I was looking around and I saw a man moving from one building to another on top of one of the buildings, and I went and told a police officer that he was on the roof. When I returned to my spot, I heard people saying they could still see this person from where they were standing."
Emphasizing that he returned to tell the police officer that he could see the attacker if he came to his location, the witness noted that he heard gunshots immediately afterward.
