Shocking ruling against Trump from US judiciary

The US District Court for the District of Columbia has issued a temporary injunction to halt construction of the ballroom.

In his ruling, Judge Richard Leon emphasized that Congressional approval is a prerequisite for the project to continue, stating, "The President does not have the authority he claims. The President of the United States is a steward of the White House on behalf of future generations, but he is not its owner." It was reported that the ruling will take effect in 14 days to allow for a potential appeals process.

TRUMP REACTS TO THE RULING

Criticizing the decision in a post on his Truth social media platform, Trump emphasized that the project would cost taxpayers nothing and therefore argued that it did not require US Congressional approval. Trump stated that the ballroom being built "will be the best of its kind in the world."

Carol Quillen, President of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, expressed satisfaction with the court's injunction, describing it as "a victory for the American people."

TRUMP'S BALLROOM PROJECT HAD BEEN A TARGET OF CRITICISM

US President Donald Trump announced the project last year, which envisioned the construction of a modern ballroom much larger than the existing East Room at the White House. As part of the project, the White House East Wing, which previously housed the First Lady's office, was demolished to make room for the new ballroom. The construction project initiated by Trump had been a target of criticism for bypassing traditional approval processes. Trump, meanwhile, had argued that the $400 million ballroom project, designed to accommodate nearly 1,000 guests, would be realized through donations and that no money would come out of taxpayers' pockets.
