Significant increase in the number of Turks deported from Germany

Germany has significantly accelerated its deportation practices in 2025 as part of its efforts to combat illegal migration. According to data from German authorities, 2,207 Turkish citizens were removed from the country and sent to Turkey last year. This figure represents more than a two-fold increase compared to 2024 and nearly a three-fold increase compared to 2023.

According to a report in Sözcü, the increase in the number of those who entered Germany illegally and were subsequently sent back is also linked to a significant decline in the number of illegal migrants entering the country. Officials noted that the number of Turkish citizens who entered Germany illegally in 2025 was 14,686. This rate is notable for a 70 percent decrease compared to the previous year.

The report prepared by the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees states that those deported were not sent in groups, but individually on different flights to Turkey. Before their journey to Turkey, these individuals are given documents containing the phrase "I am returning of my own free will." Those who refuse to return are not granted the right to re-enter Germany in the future.

On the other hand, it was reported that there are currently approximately 43,952 Turkish citizens in Germany awaiting deportation.
