South Korea announces North Korea has launched cruise missiles
The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff reported that North Korea launched cruise missiles toward the Yellow Sea.
In a statement issued by the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff, it was announced that North Korea launched cruise missiles toward the Yellow Sea at 07:00 local time.
The statement did not share details regarding the number of cruise missiles, the range they covered, their flight path, or the altitude they reached.
Noting that South Korea's vigilance has been increased, the statement included the phrase, "Our military is in close cooperation with the US to monitor North Korea's provocations."
The Seoul-based Yonhap News Agency reported that this is North Korea's third cruise missile test in the last week.
According to a report by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on January 19, North Korea had tested its "Haeil-5-23" underwater nuclear weapon system, which is currently in the development stage, in January.
