South Korea prepares evacuation plan for citizens in Lebanon and Israel: Plan to be activated in 'emergency'

The South Korean government has reported that it has prepared a plan to evacuate its citizens from Israel and Lebanon in the event of an emergency.

According to a report by the Seoul-based Yonhap news agency, South Korean First Vice Foreign Minister Kim Hong-kyun stated that the government is closely monitoring the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

Kim said, 'We have an evacuation plan for our citizens in case of an emergency. If the situation worsens, airport closures or other disruptions may occur. We strongly advise our citizens to leave while commercial flights are still available.'

According to the Yonhap agency, there are 480 South Korean citizens in Israel and 140 in Lebanon.

ISRAEL LAUNCHES INTENSE ATTACKS ON LEBANON

The Israeli military has carried out hundreds of airstrikes on southern Lebanese cities as well as the Bekaa and Baalbek regions since yesterday morning.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that 492 people, including 35 children and 58 women, were killed and 1,645 people were injured in the attacks.

A wave of displacement from the southern regions of the country toward the capital, Beirut, and the north continues.

While the Lebanese Ministry of Education announced that education has been suspended nationwide, the Ministry of Interior announced that schools in the south of the country have been opened to shelter citizens displaced by Israeli attacks.
