Spaniards take a new step for Turkey: They provided support for visas
The Spanish public is showing great interest in a petition campaign launched to facilitate travel for Turkish citizens to Europe.
The sincere dialogue and mutual sympathy between Spain and Turkey have recently reached a new dimension with an example of solidarity that has drawn attention on digital platforms. Madrid's peaceful and cautious approach to international crises has brought the citizens of the two countries closer together on social media.
Following increased interactions, particularly on the X platform, Spanish users organized a petition campaign to ease Schengen visa procedures for Turks. Within the scope of this initiative, it was requested that Turkish citizens be granted easier access to European Union countries and that the difficulties in visa applications be reduced.
FRIENDSHIP ESTABLISHED ON SOCIAL MEDIA
In the recent period, the Spanish government's sensitive stance on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and its distant policy toward the US-Israel alliance's attacks on Iran found positive resonance in Turkey. This rapprochement was reinforced with humorous posts and messages themed around brotherhood on social media. One of the most notable posts, referencing the success of Turkish health tourism, brought smiles to users' faces with the sentence, "There won't be a single bald Spaniard left in the world." Additionally, humorous content regarding the invitation of famous manager Pep Guardiola to Istanbul went viral and received extensive coverage in the Spanish press.
All these developments were also on the agenda of a television channel in Spain. The channel reported this digital rapprochement between the two countries to its viewers under the headline "Spaniards and Turks are brothers." Thus, the wave of friendship born from social media interactions was carried to television screens, and a new bridge was built between the two societies.
