Stowaway found in aircraft landing gear
A stowaway was found in the landing gear of an aircraft at Orly Airport in Paris, the capital of France.
A stowaway was found in the landing gear of an Air Algérie passenger plane arriving from Algeria at Orly Airport in Paris, France. Authorities stated that the stowaway is in critical condition and has been hospitalized near the airport.
Officials noted that the flight departed from the city of Oran in western Algeria and lasted two and a half hours.
Stowaways can lose their lives due to the extreme cold, as temperatures in the landing gear can drop to between minus 50 and minus 60 degrees Celsius during flight, or due to a lack of oxygen at high altitudes.
In 2015, the body of a stowaway who had entered a British Airways passenger plane flying from Johannesburg, South Africa, to London, England, fell onto a shop in Richmond, southwest of the capital; a second stowaway survived the 10-hour flight.
In 2019, the body of a person suspected of being a stowaway fell into the garden of a house in southwest London. It was reported that the homeowner was sunbathing in the garden at the time of the incident and was not injured.
