Strike continues in Germany: 1,000 flights could be canceled
German airline Lufthansa announced that due to a 2-day strike by cabin crew, 600 flights are expected to be canceled at Frankfurt Airport on March 12, and 400 flights at Munich Airport on March 13.
German airline Lufthansa announced that due to a 2-day strike by cabin crew, 600 flights are expected to be canceled at Frankfurt Airport on March 12, and 400 flights at Munich Airport on March 13.
It is estimated that approximately 120,000 passengers will be affected by these cancellations, with 70,000 in Frankfurt and 50,000 in Munich.
UNION HAD CALLED FOR A STRIKE
The Independent Flight Attendants Organization (UFO) union had called on Lufthansa's cabin crew to go on strike last weekend.
UFO is demanding a 15 percent pay raise for approximately 18,000 Lufthansa cabin staff for an 18-month contract period. The union's demands also include a one-time payment of up to 3,000 euros to combat inflation.
