Striking claim from Netanyahu: 'Hamas leader in Gaza, Sinwar's house has been surrounded'

According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Press Office, Netanyahu alleged that the Israeli army has surrounded Sinwar's house in Khan Yunis, the second-largest city in Gaza.

Netanyahu stated, "His house is not his fortress, he can escape, but it is only a matter of time before we find him."

Noting that he met with International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) President Mirjana Spoljaric, Netanyahu stated that he asked Spoljaric to contact Qatar to ensure that Red Cross officials can visit the Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, a written statement from the Israeli army spokesperson indicated that Israeli special forces are fighting in the city center of Khan Yunis for the "first time."

The statement noted that units other than special forces have also begun to surround the city center of Khan Yunis, and pointed out that Hamas's leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, and Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades Commander Mohammed Deif are also from this region.

Khan Yunis, located 4 kilometers inland from the sea in the south of Gaza, is known as the second most densely populated region in the Gaza Strip after the city center, with a population of approximately 207 thousand in an area of 54 square kilometers before the war. The Israeli army declared the area a "military zone" after resuming its attacks on the Gaza Strip on December 1.
