Russia's state news agency TASS announced that the explosions occurred at 09:30 local time. It was announced that approximately 30 firefighters entered the consulate to intervene in the fire. Russian officials stated that the explosion could be a 'terrorist attack.'

The Russian Foreign Ministry demanded that French authorities 'launch a comprehensive investigation.' Images from the region showed first aid and fire vehicles, as well as security force vehicles, forming a queue around the Consulate General.

A police official speaking to local media stated that the explosions were caused by 2 Molotov cocktails thrown at the Consulate General. While an investigation into the incident has been launched, it was reported that there were no deaths or injuries in the attack.
