Syria and Israel to meet on Thursday with US mediation

Reports in the US press have claimed that Syria and Israel will meet on Thursday under US mediation to prevent new crises.
Citing unnamed US officials, the reports suggested that Tom Barrack, the US Special Envoy for Syria and Ambassador to Ankara, will chair the talks to be held between Israel and Syria on Thursday.
The meeting is expected to focus on security practices in southern Syria, address increasing communication and cooperation between the parties, and prevent potential future crises. While the location of the meeting remains unknown, neither Israel nor Syria has yet made a statement on the matter.
An unnamed Israeli official previously stated, "There is relative silence right now, but the fundamental issues cannot be resolved without a comprehensive agreement between the US, Israel, and the Syrian government."
THEY LAST MET IN AZERBAIJAN
The last meeting between the parties took place in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, with the participation of Syrian Foreign Minister Assad Hassan al-Shaibani and Israeli National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi.
