Target of an Israeli missile in Iran: Turkish truck driver loses his life
Hüseyin Fırat, who was trying to reach his hometown after returning from Afghanistan, has lost his six-day battle for life in the hospital where he was taken following a missile strike that hit his vehicle in Iran.
29-year-old truck driver Hüseyin Fırat, born in Reyhanlı, Hatay, set off to return to Turkey after successfully delivering a load he picked up in Istanbul to Afghanistan. A total of 15 Turkish trucks, including one driven by his father Coşkun Fırat, began their return journey through Iran. On March 5, while traveling toward the city of Zanjan after passing through Qazvin province, the truck driven by Hüseyin Fırat was struck by a missile reported to have been fired from Israel.
While the truck was engulfed in flames at the scene, Fırat was fortunately rescued with injuries. The young driver was immediately taken by ambulance to a hospital in Zanjan, where his condition remained critical.
While other Turkish drivers in the convoy during the attack escaped unharmed, Hüseyin Fırat was placed under treatment in the intensive care unit at the hospital.
The tragic news regarding Fırat, who fought for his life for six days, arrived today; the young driver passed away despite all medical interventions.
Fırat's body is expected to be brought to his hometown of Reyhanlı to be laid to rest.
