Teachers in Muslim schools are not being paid

Samiullah Khan, a teacher who formed a forum to address issues in Muslim schools, noted that the Indian government launched a program in the 1990s to modernize madrasa education in the country, but that funds allocated for teachers under this program have been cut over the last few years.

Stating that teachers in minority schools in India are paid between 72 and 144 dollars, Khan said that as of 2018, the central government had made cuts to the funds in question.

Khan stated that for this reason, the state government has been unable to pay teachers since December 2023.

Iftikhar Ahmed Javed, chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Board of Madrasa Education, said, "This decision affects not only the teachers but also the students."

Expressing that they have paved the way for hundreds of people to receive an education through their efforts, Javed said he is in contact with authorities to resolve the issue.

It has been claimed that approximately 21,000 teachers will be left unemployed due to the suspension of payments.
