Tehran refuses to sit at the table for final offer
Iran has not agreed to participate in the second round of negotiations regarding the diplomatic proposals presented by the US. With this decision, the search for a solution to the ongoing Middle East crisis has been disrupted.
In the shadow of the conflicts that have been ongoing in the region for approximately seven weeks, diplomatic contacts have suffered another blow. Following US President Donald Trump's announcement that his representatives would travel to Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, to present a "final offer" to Iran, the Tehran administration has definitively refused to sit at the table.
According to Iran's official news agency IRNA, the Tehran government cited the naval blockade imposed by the US and its excessive demands as the reason for this stance. Iranian officials stated that they consider Washington's port blockade a violation of ceasefire conditions. They also claimed that the American side is constantly changing its attitude with "unrealistic and excessive" expectations.
The Islamic Republic of Iran declared that it would not be involved in the process, describing the talks to be held under current pressure as "not negotiation, but surrender."
HARSH STATEMENT FROM TRUMP
US President Donald Trump, in a post on his Truth Social account, reminded that the time allotted for diplomatic initiatives would end on Wednesday and delivered his message:
"We are offering a very fair and reasonable deal. If they do not accept it, the United States will destroy every single power plant and every single bridge in Iran. No more Mr. Nice Guy!"
On the other hand, despite Trump's previous messages to the contrary, it has been confirmed that Vice President JD Vance will lead the US delegation. It was also reported that Trump's special envoy Steven Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner are in the delegation. The American delegation is expected to arrive in Islamabad on Monday evening. However, the Iranian side's decision to boycott the talks has created the risk of leaving the US delegation without a counterpart.
While the latest developments have further sharpened the already tense atmosphere in the region, hopes for a solution appear to be suspended for now.
