Tense hours on the US-Iran front! 'Significant progress made'
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that significant progress has been made in the ongoing talks with Iran and that new statements could be made later today.
United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio answered questions from journalists at a joint press conference held after his meeting with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in the capital, New Delhi. Rubio underscored that significant progress has been made on the draft agreement being negotiated with Iran and pointed out that new developments could occur later today.

Rubio stated that US President Donald Trump would make statements regarding current developments concerning Iran and the Strait of Hormuz. Emphasizing that they have reached a serious stage in the agreement process, Rubio added that a final consensus has not yet been reached. "I would like to remind you that the ultimate goal is to ensure that Iran does not possess nuclear weapons," he stated.
Rubio noted that they have intensified their contacts with their allies in the Gulf region over the last 48 hours and that progress has been made on a draft prepared for keeping the Strait of Hormuz completely open and for the removal of transit fees.
INDIA CALLS FOR REGIONAL STABILITY
Indian Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, for his part, emphasized that the US is a strategic partner of India and said that the current situation in the Middle East, defense cooperation, and economic relations were discussed during the meeting. Stating that India has good relations with the US, Gulf countries, Iran, and Israel, Jaishankar expressed that they would do their best to maintain peace and stability in the region. He also underscored that they expect positive developments regarding the stability of prices in the energy market.
