Tensions continue to escalate: Harsh response from Khamenei to Trump
Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei has responded to US President Donald Trump's call to "surrender" and his implied threats. In his statement, Khamenei said, "The Iranian people will not bow to any imposition."
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a video message he released, opposed US President Donald Trump's threats against the country and his call for "unconditional surrender."
Khamenei sent the message, "The Iranian nation is not a nation that will surrender. Any military intervention by them would cause irreparable damage."
Addressing the Iranian public, Khamenei made his second statement following the "Rising Lion" attack on June 13, in which Israel targeted Tehran's nuclear infrastructure. Giving morale to his people in his speech, Khamenei said, "Those who know Iran and its history do not speak to this nation with the language of threats. Just as this nation stood tall in war, it will stand against imposed peace with the same determination."
OPEN THREAT FROM TRUMP
US President Donald Trump, in his statements last night, increased the dose of his threats against Iran. Stating, "We have full and absolute control over Iranian skies," Trump used the phrase "so-called Supreme Leader" for Khamenei. Trump also drew attention with the words, "We know where he is hiding. We will not eliminate him, at least for now. But our patience is running out." In a second statement he made via social media, Trump directly called for "Unconditional surrender!"
CLAIM THAT TRUMP VETOED ISRAEL'S KHAMENEI PLAN
Two US officials speaking to Reuters brought a striking claim to the agenda. According to the officials, Israel's plan to target Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei was rejected by Trump. US sources claimed that this opportunity arose after Israel's major attack on June 13, but that Trump "pushed this plan away with the back of his hand." The same sources also stated that high-level contacts between the US and Israel have continued uninterrupted throughout the crisis.
