That country is moving to mass missile production

Poland has taken a significant step toward increasing its national defense capacity. Within the scope of a cooperation agreement between the Polish state defense group PGZ and the American company Anduril Industries, it has been announced that Barracuda-500M (SLB-500M) model long-range cruise missiles will be produced domestically in the city of Bydgoszcz. This project, which was launched as of July 6, 2026, will not only increase Poland's independence in military technology but will also enhance the deterrence power of NATO member countries on the eastern front.

The production of Barracuda-500M type missiles, which are designed to be more economical and suitable for mass production compared to traditional missiles, is targeted to reach thousands of units. With a range exceeding 926 kilometers and carrying a 45-kilogram warhead, these missiles will expand the operational range of the Polish army. Specifically, by enabling the precise striking of high-value targets behind enemy lines, Poland will advance its defense capabilities without directly putting its own military personnel at risk.

While American technology is being used at the start of the project, there are plans to increase the share of European-based suppliers in production in the coming years. In this way, the goal is to reduce dependence on overseas supply in potential long-term conflicts and to provide uninterrupted ammunition support to NATO forces.

With this move by Poland, the European defense industry is moving toward a more integrated structure, while the country's role within NATO will also gain strength.
