In a statement on the social media platform X, Ghebreyesus said, "No words can describe the concern we feel for patients who have lost their only opportunity to receive life-saving cancer treatment or palliative care."

In his statement, the WHO chief called out, "We are calling and pleading for full access to medical and fuel aid, immediately! The longer we wait, the more we put these fragile lives at risk."

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced today that the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, the only center in the blockaded Gaza Strip where cancer patients were treated, had ceased operations due to Israeli attacks.

LIVES AT SERIOUS RISK

In a post on the social media platform X, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) reported that the third floor of the facility had sustained serious damage due to an attack on the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital on October 30.

The post stated, "The Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital has stopped providing services as of today due to fuel shortages and numerous attacks affecting the facility. This is the only public hospital in the Gaza Strip where cancer patients can receive treatment, and now the lives of dozens of cancer patients are at serious risk."

The post, which noted that Israel continues to block the entry of fuel necessary to provide energy to hospitals into Gaza, called for the urgent entry of water, food, fuel, medical supplies, and sufficient humanitarian aid into Gaza.
