The toll of the 40-day US-Iran war revealed: Tehran administration announces the figure
The Iranian government has reported that economic losses resulting from US and Israeli attacks have reached the $270 billion level. It was stated that compensation demands are on the agenda in negotiations and diplomatic contacts.
Iranian officials have announced the first official figure regarding the scale of the economic damage caused by the war the country has faced. Government Spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani stated that Iran's losses resulting from US and Israeli attacks are estimated to be around $270 billion. Emphasizing that this data is a preliminary report, Mohajerani noted that final calculations are still ongoing.
It is reported that these economic losses are not limited to military damage alone, but also take into account infrastructure destruction, disruptions in commercial activities, and indirect effects. For this reason, it is stated that the announced amount may increase in the coming days.
Fatemeh Mohajerani underscored that the issue of covering the incurred damages is a priority agenda item for Iran at the negotiating table. Demands regarding compensation for the war were also raised, particularly during the talks held in Islamabad.
As Iran prepares for new steps regarding the compensation for the damage it suffered due to the war, it was reported that this issue is being discussed not only with the US and Israel but also with countries in the region that were involved in the war.
The Tehran administration has demanded compensation from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Jordan, alleging that they provided support for US and Israeli military operations. In a letter sent to the UN, Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, stated, "Iran (in its previously submitted report) has informed that the aggressors (US-Israel) used the territories of the aforementioned states and directly participated in illegal attacks against certain civilian targets."
