Making statements regarding the detention of İmamoğlu, Bruce emphasized that the US attaches importance to Turkey acting in accordance with the rule of law and ensuring transparency. While answering journalists' questions, Bruce noted that the US and Turkey are allies and that they expect freedoms to be protected in Turkey.

Stating that they respect the decision-making processes in the internal affairs of another country, Bruce announced that they expect Turkey to act with respect for democratic human rights. Bruce emphasized that the US attaches importance to Turkey acting in accordance with the rule of law and ensuring transparency.

Expressing that the US is following the process very closely, Bruce stated the following:

''We are following this issue closely. Turkey is a valued ally and partner for the US. Within the framework of this partnership, we expect Turkey to protect fundamental freedoms, human rights, and online freedoms, to act in accordance with its constitution, and to ensure transparency.''

Upon a question regarding the statement made on March 19, Bruce had given the following response:

''We will not comment on every development in this process. However, it is important for Turkey to protect fundamental freedoms, including the right to a fair and impartial trial.''
