Torrential rain causes bridge collapse in China: Vehicles fall into water, 12 dead, 31 missing
In China's Shaanxi province, 12 people have died and 31 are missing after a highway bridge partially collapsed due to heavy rainfall, causing vehicles to fall into the water.
Heavy rainfall in China's Shaanxi province has triggered flooding. A highway bridge in the city of Shangluo collapsed yesterday at approximately 20:40 local time following intense rain and flash floods.
AT LEAST 17 VEHICLES FELL INTO THE RIVER
According to provincial authorities, at least 17 vehicles fell into the Jinqian River, which flows beneath the bridge.
12 DEAD, 31 MISSING
Rescue teams have announced that 12 people have lost their lives and 31 people remain missing.
Search and rescue operations in the region are ongoing.
