Trump defends TikTok, which he once wanted to ban during his presidency! Declares Facebook an 'enemy of the people'

Donald Trump, who attempted to ban the social media platform TikTok in the US during his presidency, has now made a U-turn.

Trump has criticized the bill currently being debated in Congress that aims to ban TikTok.

Trump stated that the proposal would provide unfair advantages to Meta, the owner of the "enemy of the people" Facebook.

TIKTOK COULD BE BANNED IN THE US

According to a report by NTV; the US Congress is discussing a bill that would force TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, to sell the app by September 30.

US President Joe Biden had stated that he would sign the bill to ban TikTok if it passed through Congress.

In an interview, Trump said, "Without TikTok, you can make Facebook bigger, and I consider Facebook to be an enemy of the people."

Responding to questions about the reliability of the app, the former president added that it has "both good and bad sides," saying, "There are a lot of people on TikTok who love it. There are a lot of young kids on TikTok who will go crazy without it."

"FACEBOOK IS A THREAT TO US ELECTIONS"

In his interview, Trump argued that while he agrees with those who view TikTok as a national security threat, Facebook also poses a major threat to the US government.

"I think Facebook is very bad for our country, especially when it comes to elections," Trump added.

TikTok last faced a serious campaign for sale or a ban in 2020, during the period when Trump and Biden were competing for the White House.

At that time, American officials had stated that they feared data from the Chinese technology giant ByteDance could fall into the hands of the Chinese government.
