Trump fear in Mexico: Thousands set off

Ahead of the US presidential election, thousands of migrants have begun marching from southern Mexico toward the US border. According to reports in the Mexican press, approximately 2,500 migrants who set out from the city of Tapachula in the southern state of Chiapas to head to the US are aiming to cross the border before the presidential election.

Migration observer Luis Rey Garcia pointed out that the number of migrants participating in the march could increase, stating, "This number could rise rapidly."

TRUMP WINNING COULD END OUR DREAM

The majority of the migrants consist of individuals from China, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Haiti. Speaking to the Spanish EFE Agency, Venezuelan migrant Ehison Diaz stated that the possibility of Donald Trump winning the US presidential election prompted them to take action, saying, "Trump winning could end our dream of entering the US. That is why many people have set off."

'PLEASE DO NOT STOP US'

Honduran migrant Nelson Mejia, who stated that they want to cross the border before the new president takes office in the US, made a call to the Mexican government, saying, "Please do not stop us."

According to a report by the International Rescue Committee (IRC), more than 700 thousand migrants entered Mexico between January and July. A large number of migrants who set out from Central American countries are trying to reach the US via Guatemala and Mexico.
